Setting up Windows
AirMote should be able to connect to computers running Windows or any other operating system, if it is set up to accept a VNC viewer conforming to PFB protocol 3.3, 3.8 or above. AirMote authenticates using the VNC authentication. For better security, AirMote does not support the "no authentication" method of connection - it requires password authentication.
I have a lot of Mac computers here, but no Windows ones, so I have no detailed instructions for setting up other computers. However, I do have reports that has worked.
Try installing the free software TightVNC located at http://www.tightvnc.com and its default settings with an 8-character password.
I also have a report that using RealVNC works when its encryption setting is set to "prefer on".
AirMote uses authentication encryption, but, since AirMote doesn't view the remote computer's screen, it doesn't use or support the screen data encryption part of the protocol. This may account for the need to set RealVNC encryption to "prefer on" rather than "required".
