I am SO grateful that you wrote about this. I followed your instructions and got the part where the iPhone showed up in iTunes, but when I it said it was going to erase all my data, I decided to try a different route. I ejected the iPhone from iTunes and then pushed the power button, AND (drum roll!!!!) that wonderful white Apple appears and now all is well again. PHEW!

Thanks again!

This is awesome, and to the point. 10 minutes since I found your page and I am already halfway through restoring from backup!

iBlacklist crashed the phone, then on reboot the screen would just be frozen completely. I imagine it started up iBlacklist with a corrupt data file and that caused the damage.

Hi,

Just FYI: had the iphone screen of death, nothing worked and called tech support. Here's what I did:

1. plug iphone into computer with itunes running (iphone was off)
2. Hold down power button and home button
3. When the apple logo comes on, let go of the power button but keep home button pressed for 60 seconds
4. You're supposed to wait til you see the "connect to iTunes" image
4b. Mine never showed up, so after about 70 seconds I let go of the home button, and then the "connect to iTunes" image showed up
5. iTunes recognized the iphone and now i'm in the process of restoring it.
If it doesn't work, I'll write back. if I don't all good!

All the talk revolves around Apple's devices, and how their design and advanced technology overmaps others, but the reliability of such products has recently come into question, especially with the battery-life. Check out this article at The Music Void, which is interesting - http://bit.ly/aML9UT

I have my own thoughts on Apple iPad on my blog (http://www.thinkerati.com/whiterabbit/living-as-mortals/apple-ipad-good-things-and-bad-things-about-apple-ipad/). My biggest gripe personally is the multitasking issue. But your perception on why Apple made it that way is very valid and something I haven't considered myself (Apple doesn’t want a runaway app to hog up all the available CPU time, or a user to run many apps and then see their device slow to a crawl.) In a way if the product grinds to a snail pace, it may reflect badly on Apple as the maker, which consistently relies on the reputation of being solid (unlike Windows' BSOD). Very good point.

Too much money.Seriously if you don't know whether you want it or not, GET IT. right now. i mean it
